UNC parts ways with five-star PG Dylan Mingo
Five-star guard Dylan Mingo is no longer committed to UNC after the Tar Heels decided to move on from the prized recruit.
Five-star point guard Dylan Mingo is no longer committed to North Carolina , as the New York City standout and the Tar Heels have decided to part ways. Andrew Jones of TarHeel247 first reported the news. Mingo, a consensus top-10 prospect in his class out of Long Island Lutheran (N.
Y. ), committed to UNC on Feb. 17 but never signed a national letter of intent.
The move comes less than a month after former head coach Hubert Davis was fired on March 24 and replaced by former NBA championship-winning coach Michael Malone . Mingo met with Malone and members of the new staff over the weekend. The new staff, which recently landed Virginia Tech wing Neoklis Avdalas , hosted Utah transfer guard Terrence Brown on an on-campus visit Monday and visited top 10 transfer portal target Juke Harris of Wake Forest in his hometown of Salisbury, opted to move in a different direction with its backcourt, leading to the split with Mingo.
