The New York Giants hosted former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle DJ Reader for a free-agent visit April 13, according to a report from Jordan Schultz . In March, the Baltimore Ravens reportedly hosted Reader for a free-agent visit. Reader, 31, played in 32 games for the Detroit Lions over the past two seasons.
He joined the Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2024 after playing in 44 games over the previous four seasons with the Bengals. When Reader signed with Detroit, he was recovering from a torn quad he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings in December 2023. Reader played his first four NFL seasons in Houston.
