Rebilas-Imagn Images As Kentucky Basketball looks to make a splash this week with Rob Wright and Tyran Stokes visiting, one recruiting insider has an update on where things stand with the two highly-touted prospects. At 247 Sports , Travis Branham just shared the latest on where things stand with Stokes and Wright, and he threw a bit of cold water on things for Big Blue Nation. First off, Branham still believes Kansas is the slight leader for Stokes, though that’s before the latter visits Lexington to hear Kentucky’s last-ditch effort for the No.
1 prospect in high school basketball. But going into the visit, Kansas was still the leader in Branham’s eyes based on what his sources said. In regard to Wright, while many believe Kentucky is the leader, Branham says he believes it’s much more of a toss-up right now between the Wildcats and returning to BYU, so don’t count out the Cougars just yet.
Branham is an expert on all things recruiting and one of the best in the business, so this latest update is a good reminder for fans not to get their hopes up ‘too’ high at this time. While Kentucky may be dreaming of landing both players as early as today, it’s clear that there’s still plenty of work to be done to get this across the finish line. The belief is that the Kentucky coaching staff is pushing for a commitment from Stokes right now, but if that doesn’t happen, they may move on and focus on getting impact transfers before they go off the board to other schools.
