Top QB target Kamden Lopati decommits from Illinois, Michigan football in play
Michigan football's top quarterback target, Kamden Lopati, has decommitted from Illinois, putting the Wolverines in a strong position.
Michigan football recruiting has been in full swing, but despite a flurry of commitments at the outset of spring ball, Kyle Whittingham and the new staff have been working quietly. One of the big priorities for the 2027 recruiting class has been quarterback, as longtime QB commit Peter Bourque departed the class in February. But Whittingham has particularly had his eye on one target, and he appears to be that much more gettable as of Monday.
The Wolverines have made no secret that they've coveted Salt Lake City (Utah) West four-star quarterback Kamden Lopati, the dual-threat signal caller who hailed from Whittingham's old backyard. But the problem was, he had long been committed to Illinois. Not anymore, it seems.
As he backed off his pledge from the Illini on Monday.
