UNC basketball forward makes decision on future
The UNC basketball program is retaining Jarin Stevenson as he announced his return.
The North Carolina Tar Heels' continue to get good news on Monday afternoon. After the program landed a commitment from Neoklis Avdalas , they have added a familiar face. Forward Jarin Stevenson is returning to North Carolina, opting to stay with the program under new head coach Michael Malone rather than enter the transfer portal.
The Chapel Hill native played two seasons at Alabama before transferring to North Carolina. The 6-foot-10 forward was a key piece in North Carolina's rotation a year ago. He appeared in all 33 games, starting 25 of those games.
Stevenson averaged 8. 1 points and 4. 4 rebounds per game.
Per Inside Carolina, Malone made it a priority to retain Stevenson: Sources have indicated to Inside Carolina that Malone prioritized retaining Stevenson, who was drawing backchannel interest from other P4 schools. Malone and Stevenson met as part of the one-on-one player meetings that took place last week. With the addition of Stevenson, North Carolina's roster continues to take shape.
