The former NBA champion made a few moves over the past week, including the addition of former Providence head coach Kim English as an assistant, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. This comes at a critical time when Malone is trying to secure the Tar Heels roster for next season and build a staff at the same time. English joins Chuck Martin, who arrived from Arkansas last week and was a longtime assistant under coach John Calipari and started in Kentucky.

Malone is also retaining Sean May, Pat Sullivan and Eric Hoots to his initial staff. The group of five coaches bring a wealth of experience for the college game to complement and bridge the gap with what Malone brings from his time in the NBA. It's the perfect mix of both worlds and necessary in the NIL era.

As for English, the former George Mason and Providence head coach posted an 82-81 record across the past five seasons. He never made the NCAA Tournament at either stop. Malone is working feverishly to build Chapel Hill using a "boots on the ground" approach.
