The Catalan giants landed in the Spanish capital earlier today and have been training on the pitch ahead of the match.

Footage obtained from El Desmarque showed Flick gesturing to UEFA officials and pointing at the turf during the session. 🌱 Parece que Hansi Flick no está muy conforme con el estado del césped del Metropolitano… 🔗 https://t. co/vm1Nx3Fli8 🔗 pic.

twitter. com/oqi8qtA94l — ElDesmarque (@eldesmarque) April 13, 2026 Atletico’s pitch has been an issue for a little while, with Koke admitting back in February that it’s not in great condition. Flick warned his players about the surface ahead of their La Liga clash in Madrid at the start of month and it seems he’s still concerned about the turf before tomorrow’s huge game.

The hope will be that the pitch does not play a big role in the outcome of the game, particularly as recent matches between the two rivals have seen plenty of controversy already. Barcelona head into the match 2-0 down from the first leg but optimistic they can pull off a comeback and reach the semi-finals.
