What was Scottie Scheffler's Masters complaint about 'course setup'?
Scottie Scheffler wasn't happy about something at the 2026 Masters.
Scottie Scheffler didn't seem happy for much of his Masters run to second place at Augusta that saw him fall just short of Rory McIlroy in the end. There was him snapping at a reporter on Saturday after an incredible 7-under 65 in the third round that set him up for a Sunday run. And after he finished second, he had this to say, via the New York Post .
โIโm not in charge of course setup,โ he said to reporters. โI wouldโve liked it to have been a little bit more equal in terms of the firmness on Thursday and Friday. I was a bit surprised at how soft things were on Friday afternoon, especially as it got late in the day.
But the weather also changes, like it was a bit windy on Thursday. " He did pull that back a bit, following up with this: "itโs just thatโs part of the game. We play an outdoor sport, and you donโt know how conditions are gonna change โ especially course conditions.
" Is he accusing Augusta National of changing up the firmness between the first and second rounds? Maybe by under or over watering or specific grass cuts? The answer is: Yeah.
