Did Carson Beck’s Title Game INT Hurt His NFL Draft Stock?

Yahoo Sports

The 2026 NFL Draft has its fair share of questions that still need to be answered. Even though this year's draft will focus primarily on positions that aren't considered "marquee," there are still a few good quarterbacks on the board. Outside of Fernando Mendoza, who is fully expected to be the first overall pick going to the Las Vegas Raiders, and Ty Simpson, who some scouts have raved about, and others have scoffed at his size and arm strength, other potential franchise-altering QBs do exist, such as names like Garrett Nussmeier and Carson Beck.

Just like any other athlete, scouts have both positive and negative opinions on mechanics, footwork, etc. But the latest mistake in the last game of the season, the College Football National Championship, may raise some questions about former Miami Hurricanes and Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck. In two of his last three seasons, Beck has totaled more than 3,800 yards.

During last season, while reaching the National Championship game against Fernando Mendoza and the Indiana Hoosiers, Beck completed over 72% of his passes. A major concern is that even with Championships under his belt, Beck has totaled 24 interceptions in the last two seasons. He had 12 in 2024 with Georgia and 12 in 2025 with Miami.

Beck threw an interception late in the game to clinch a title for Mendoza and the Hoosiers, and one would have to contemplate whether that interception in a clutch situation, among others, could, in fact, hurt Beck's draft stock later this month for the NFL Draft. Beck is a player who will more than likely slip out of the first round, but he is still a top-3 quarterback in this draft, and the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys have been rumored to be interested. Carson Beck checks all the boxes and has the size and traits to make him an excellent quarterback to have on any NFL team's roster come time for training camp later this summer.
