USC baseball bounces back from losing streak with sweep of Iowa
After their worst week of the season to date, the Trojans responded in a big way back at home
Last week was a rough one for the USC baseball team. After getting swept by rival UCLA last weekend , the Trojans fell to UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday, giving them their first and longest losing streak of the year. This weekend, USC looked to get back on track with a three-game series back at Dedeaux Field against Iowa.
The Trojans did just that, sweeping the Hawkeyes with 9-2, 6-3, and 8-2 victories. Fridayโs game was particularly notable, as starting pitcher Mason Edwards set a career high with 16 strikeouts. That mark matched the third most in a game in USC history , tying the legendary Barry Zito.
Following the sweep, USC now sits at 30-7 on the season and 13-5 in Big Ten play. The Trojans are currently in third place in the conference standings, behind only 9-0 UCLA and 12-3 Nebraska. USC will visit Nebraska in a massive three-game series next weekend.
First, however, the Trojans will head down to Long Beach for a matchup at Long Beach State Tuesday night. This article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: USC baseball bounces back from losing streak with sweep of Iowa
