MM 4.13: Maryland tennis ties program record for conference wins

(Photo by G Fiume/Getty Images) | Getty Images Maryland women’s tennis has risen up the Big Ten rankings thanks to their scintillating home form, but the Terps had struggled on the road, dropping four straight games away from College Park — albeit against three of the top four teams in the conference. The Terps turned that around Sunday, though, with a 4-1 victory over Michigan State.
Not only was it their first road win since March 6, it was also their seventh conference victory of the season — tied for the most in program history. Freshmen Lucia Donnelly and Magdalena Baniak won their singles matchups, and Challa won hers to clinch the victory. The Terps have had a stellar year under sixth-year head coach Katie Dougherty — their . 750 record (15-5) so far would be their best winning percentage in a season since the program’s first year in 1977-78.
