Texas A&M is one of 3 teams 'surging' for 2027 5-star OL
Texas A&M is currently one of three teams who are doing the best job recruiting 2027 5-star OL Albert Simien.
Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class will continue to take shape over the next few months, and one of the program's priority recruits across the offensive line, five-star offensive tackle Albert Simien , has visited College Station more than any other program and is nearing a decision in the coming months. After his recent unofficial visit during the Aggies' sixth spring practice, Simien's relationship with the coaching staff, especially head coach Mike Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing, is doing everything in its power to set up an official visit with the blue-chip prospect in the coming months. The recruiting complex isn't as complex as some may think, centered around relationships and development, and while the Aggies check off nearly every box, On3's Sam Spiegelman provided an in-depth look at just how well the coaching staff has progressed with the Louisiana native, starting with the level of focus on building a strong foundation with Simien and his family.
“My recruitment from Texas A&M is on more of a personal level,” Simien stated. “Getting to know me and my family, everyone in the building and what’s going on with them. They’re doing a great job of getting to know my family and me on a personal level and understanding where we come from with our traditions and values.
” Similar to several top signees in the 2026 signing class, including five-star freshman cornerback Brandon Arrington, strong relationships with his family, not just selling the football program's development track, but future on and off the field, are everything in today's college football landscape. Regarding Elko and Cushing's "techniques," Simien stated that many similarities exist in the blocking schemes used at Sam Houston HS, which would make his transition from high school to College Station virtually seamless. “The coaching styles are somewhat similar to what I’m used to growing up over here at Sam Houston,” he said.
“Getting to know more of their techniques, why they do what they do and the reasons behind it, and understanding and gaining more of a football IQ. ” According to Rivals/On3, Simien is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the 2nd-ranked interior offensive lineman, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Louisiana.
