Loan Celtic striker Shin Yamada’s Bundesliga Update Shin Yamada has been publicly backed by Preussen Münster’s sporting director despite being omitted from the matchday squad at the struggling German second-division club… The Japanese striker, who arrived at Celtic from Kawasaki Frontale for £1. 5 million as their only fee-paying forward signing last summer, endured a difficult spell at the Hoops. He failed to score in 11 outings – mostly from the bench – before completing a loan move to Preussen Münster at the end of January.
Since relocating to Germany, Yamada has once again struggled for game time, making just one start before being hooked at half-time, and clocking only 60 minutes across four further substitute appearances. His situation has worsened in recent weeks, having not been included in the squad for the club’s last three fixtures. Despite that, sporting director Jan Uphues has stood by the decision to bring Yamada in from Celtic.
Uphues said via CW : “We had to act back then because we had a lot of injuries. Fortunately, everyone is healthy again now, which has created more competition within the squad. ” “Shin hasn’t had as many opportunities as he would have wanted recently, but I am certain he will get his chance in the remaining five matches in Bundesliga 2.
