Kentucky WBB lands a former five-star recruit in the transfer portal
Kenny Brooks and the Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball have landed a former top five recruit from the transfer portal.
The 2026-27 Kentucky Wildcats women's basketball roster will look much different from the Sweet 16 team they had this season. With graduations and and transfers, they are losing several players, and are in need of some firepower from the transfer portal. On Sunday, they landed their first commitment, and it's potentially a good one.
Per On3's Talia Goodman , Forward Ayanna Patterson is a former top five recruit who committed to Connecticut in 2022. The 6'2 forward has incredible talent, but hasn't been able to reach her ceiling due to injuries. After her freshman season, she missed two straight full seasons due to a knee injury.
Last year, she played in 30 games, but averaged just about five minutes per game of action. She posted averages of 1. 7 points and 1.
4 rebounds in that time. Now, she is looking for a fresh start and to get back to the player she envisioned being. Forward is a position that Kentucky lacks depth at as they enter the offseason.
