Clemson lands Notre Dame star guard from the transfer portal
Brad Brownell and Clemson men’s basketball have made a splash in the transfer portal by landing a star shooting guard out of Notre Dame.
Coach Brad Brownell and the Clemson Tigers made a big splash in the NCAA transfer portal on Sunday. As first reported by On3 , Clemson has landed Notre Dame shooting guard Cole Certa. A 6-foor-5, 205-pound player originally from Illinois that attended IMG Academy in Florida, Certa was a four-star recruit in the class of 2024.
He spent the past two seasons in South Bend and played in 18 games as a freshman in 2024-25 before making 16 starts this past season. Certa appeared in all 31 games for the Fighting Irish and shot 37. 4 percent from the field and 36.
7 percent from beyond the arc. He was also an 89 percent shooter from the free-throw line. Certa averaged almost 13 points per game in 2025-26 on a Notre Dame team that finished 13-18 overall and 4-14 in ACC play.
Certa is Clemson's first addition in the transfer portal this cycle. The Tigers finished 24-11 overall this past season, including 12-6 in ACC play. Clemson reached the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season but fell to the Iowa Hawkeyes in the first round in Tampa, Florida.
