Promoting Electric Propulsion Collegiate Boat Competition, a free, three-day event featuring high-speed electric boat races, student innovation and hands-on exposure to maritime careers is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, in partnership with the American Society of Naval Engineers. PEP26 will be held Tuesday through Thursday, April 14–16, at Portsmouth City Park, 7 Cpl JM Williams Ave.

, and will bring together more than 350 collegiate engineers from more than 45 universities to race more than 55 electric-powered vessels in the Elizabeth River. Qualifications will be held Tuesday, manned racing on Wednesday, and unmanned racing on Thursday. Racing starts at 9 a.

m. and finishes at 3 p. m.
