Will Rory McIlroy get a new Green Jacket if he wins 2026 Masters?

Yahoo Sports

The PGA and Augusta have very specific rules when it comes to getting another Green Jacket.

It might go down to the wire on Sunday, but reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy very well could become a repeat winner at Augusta . (That, or he could experience another devastating collapse . ) For one of the best golfers of his generation, it would certainly be a well-earned achievement worth celebrating.

But McIlroy's potential to win again raises an important, probably understated question: Does he get another Green Jacket if he finishes on top in 2026? In a word, no. Here's why a more thorough explanation as to why not, per the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA) : Golfers who win the Masters and get their Green Jackets can only bring their jackets home for a year.

After that, the jacket must stay at Augusta, and they can wear it only at the club during the annual tournament. If you are a previous Masters winner, you always have the same jacket, unless your body size changes. As long as your Green Jacket continues to fit well, that is the jacket you always wear.

Here's the caveat no one mentions, though. If you win The Masters again, you get a new trophy, and you get to keep the trophy each and every time you win again. That should be incentive enough to win golf's biggest tournament every chance one gets.
