Deion Sanders gives encouraging health update at Colorado spring game
Deion Sanders returned to the field for the Buffaloes' spring game after dealing with blood clots, and he provided a positive update on his health.
Deion Sanders faces a pivotal Year 4 at Colorado after a disappointing 3-9 campaign last fall, but it seems he's in good health as the Buffaloes wrap up spring ball. Colorado held its spring game on Saturday, and Sanders was on the field after taking leave during the spring to deal with a recurring blood clot issue. Sanders was also away from the team for a long stretch of the offseason last year after he was diagnosed with bladder cancer.
However, Sanders told the media after the game, "I'm good," when asked about his health. โEverybody inside these doors can tell you, itโs different when Iโm here,โ Sanders said, according to the Associated Press . โIโm going to take my breaks, like every other coach, but I love to be here.
โ Sanders and the Buffaloes had a breakthrough season in 2024, finishing 9-4 thanks to the efforts of Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and Sanders' son, Shedeur. However, both players moved on last offseason, and CU had some growing pains last fall. Now, there have been some changes.
Brennan Marion is in as the offensive coordinator and has brought his "go-go" offense to the table, which will likely be run by former five-star quarterback Julian Lewis. Colorado also has a new defensive coordinator in Chris Marve, who spent 2022-24 in the same role at Virginia Tech. The Buffs are hoping to get back to competing in the Big 12 this season, and it seems their coach is in good health ahead of the campaign.
