Sergio Garcia breaks driver in frustration at 2026 Masters

Sergio Garcia had a rough start at the 2026 Masters on Sunday, snapping his driver head off after a bad tee shot.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — It was a rough start Sunday morning for Sergio Garcia at the 2026 Masters . The 2016 champion, playing alongside fellow LIV Golf star Jon Rahm, was on the par-5 second hole when he struck his tee shot and the ball started fading toward the bunker on the right side of the fairway.

Garcia, unpleased with his swing and ball flight, then took his anger out on the tee box. Garcia smacked his tee into the ground, taking a chunk of turf out of the tee box. He also snapped his driver head off after hitting a trash can while walking off the tee.

Ladies and gentlemen, Sergio Garcia is still Sergio Garcia. I believe tearing up the tee box is frowned upon at your local muni, let alone Augusta. ⁦ @TheMasters ⁩ He also snapped the head off his driver.
