Vikings assistant highlighted as up-and-coming coach in the NFL
The Vikings could have another assistant coach getting more attention from the NFL as head coaching chances open up.
The Minnesota Vikings have one of the better coaching staffs in the NFL, which is why they seem to be able to rise to the occasion time and again. The spotlight is always on defensive coordinator Brian Flores as he gets a handful of coaching interviews every offseason, but soon he may not be alone on that front. In a piece for The Athletic , Jourdan Rodrigue polled folks around the NFL to see who could be seen as an up-and-coming candidate.
We have seen some re-tread hires recently in the NFL, but there is a deep bench waiting for their chances in the upcoming hiring cycles, as Rodrigue discovered talking to folks. She wrote, "When I talked to coaches, executives and other league personnel throughout the meetings, I also wanted to know who they believed was a coach on the rise who perhaps was not getting enough recognition. .
. A prominent NFC coach said it was clear over the past two seasons that the former quarterback McCown is taking on more responsibility within the Vikingsโ offense. " McCown has hopped around the NFL coaching, the same way he did when he was a player.
What should be mentioned with McCown is that he has been in some not-so-great coaching spots, but he has always helped his players rise above that, which may be why he is getting mentioned finally.
