The Cleveland Browns are always in the mix because, as “everyone knows,” general manager Andrew Berry can’t resist making a trade to accumulate futures draft assets.
This year, there is speculation that the Browns could move down in the first round from the No. 6 overall selection, possibly move their second first-round pick (No. 24 overall) for a first-round selection in 2027, potentially package a Day 2 selection to move back into the first round, and everything in between.
That all sounds fun, except for the constant trading down part, but everyone involved needs to remember that no one really knows what will happen once the draft opens on April 23. Teams may want to trade down, but they have to find a trade partner interested in trading up. And while it is never a bad idea to have Jerry Jones on speed dial, there are only so many gullible people willing to deal in a draft that is light on top quarterbacks.
In the end, it is all basically harmless and just another example of how the NFL owns the attention of media and fans 365 days a year. Enough about that, let’s get the day going with the latest edition of the Sunday Dawg Chow.
