UFC White House card adds massive heavyweight showdown

The impromptu booking came after President Donald Trump, who was in attendance at UFC 327 in Miami on Saturday, asked Dana White why Lewis wasn’t on the card. White has said in the past that Lewis is one of Trump’s favorite fighters so he rectified that omission almost immediately. White called Lewis from the Kaseya Center and he immediately accepted the offer to compete at the White House.

After watching Hokit then put on a potential Fight of the Year with his unanimous decision win over Curtis Blaydes, White figured out the other half of that matchup. With Hokit about to get transported to the hospital after his war with Blaydes, he was asked and accepted the opportunity to face Lewis in June. Of course, Hokit comes into the fight off a red hot start to his UFC career after moving to 3-0 with his win over Bladyes on Saturday.

It was an absolute back-and-forth war but Hokit got the nod on the scorecards to remain undefeated in his career. As for Lewis, he comes into the fight off a knockout loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta in his previous outing but he’ll obviously try to turn things around when he faces Hokit in June. The unexpected seventh fight add to the UFC White House card is the final bout expected to be added after Trump personally requested Lewis’ presence.
