Pirates sweep double header to remain undefeated
ASH GROVE, MO–The Ash Grove Pirates showed no mercy in their double header sweep of the Exeter Tigers and Sparta Trojans, on Saturday. The Pirates (13-0) defeated the Tigers, 16-1 in the first game of the day, and closed it out with an 11-1 beatdown of the Trojans in the nightcap. The lopsided victories come as no surprise, since Ash Grove scores an average of 11 runs per game this spring.
This is the team’s best start since they finished the the 2023 season 25-0 and captured the program’s only state championship. There’s still a long way to go until the postseaon, but the Pirates have all the elements for another deep run in the state tournament. Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
