, stopping Jiri Prochazka in the first round to win the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. What made Ulberg’s performance even more impressive is the fact that he did all of it on one leg. Saturday’s main event had a lot to live up to considering UFC 327’s undercard delivered fireworks across the board.
Ulberg had a little more momentum than Prochazka, but Prochazka had been in big title fights before. It was a great matchup on paper and one that had the chance to deliver Fight of the Year results. That is, of course, if everything went down without a hitch.
Unfortunately, this main event didn’t start out the way it was planned. Both light heavyweights landed some solid shots over the first minute or so before Ulberg suffered a nasty knee injury while planting his leg. He buckled badly and Prochazka immediately took notice.
A few leg kicks and awkward movements later and it was obvious that Ulberg was compromised. Unfortunately for Prochazka, his warrior spirit prevented him from attacking Ulberg’s injured leg. Instead, Prochazka let his guard down and invited Ulberg into a fire fight.
