The Oklahoma Sooners earned the series win over Texas on a historic night for freshman Kendall Wells.

The Oklahoma Sooners secured the road series win with a dramatic 4-3 win over the Texas Longhorns in what was a historic night for one Sooner. With the Sooners trailing 2-1 in the fifth inning, Kendall Wells, who had been hitless in the series with four strikeouts, picked a great time to get her first hit, and she made it count. Wells connected on a 2-2 pitch and launched it over the left field bleachers to give the Sooners a 4-2 lead.

It was her 31st home run of the season, setting a new freshman single-season home run record. Oklahoma's only other scoring came in the second inning on a Gabbie Garcia solo home run that tied the game at one. It was Garcia's 17th home run of the season.

Mialia Guachino got the start against the Longhorns and put together another strong start. She threw six innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits and two walks against the vaunted Texas lineup. Guachino struck out six, including Texas star hitters Katie Stewart and Reese Atwood two times apiece.

Guachino is now 12-0 on the season. Audrey Lowry picked up right where she left off after her complete game shutout on Friday to earn the save with a scoreless seventh inning to seal the win. This weekend, Lowry has lowered her ERA to 1.
