Cameron Young says if he really thought he had a chance of catching Rory McIlroy at The Masters

Young carded a superb seven-under 65 on Saturday at Augusta National, having been eight shots off the lead entering the round.
But his phenomenal performance now means he is in contention for the green jacket on the final day of The Masters. His 65 represents his career low round at the tournament, with a second round 67 helping him make the cut after a first round 73. Young has now shared insight into his emotions after his fantastic day in Georgia, which McIlroy entered with a record six-shot lead.
Cameron Young knew Rory McIlroy’s lead wasn’t safe at The Masters Young was asked if he felt that there was no lead that was safe around Augusta , and if he thought he could contend if he enjoyed such a fine round. “There certainly is no lead that’s safe out here,” he told Golf on CBS . “But at the same time, Rory loves it here and he’s obviously playing some great golf.
“So I don’t think anyone would have been surprised if he went out and shot 65 today too. “So it’s just one of those times that if he does open the door you have to take advantage, and thankfully I was able to get myself a little closer here today. ” And sharing how he managed to turn his fortunes around, Young commented: “It’s hard to say, honestly.
“I feel like I was really ready to go for the week, and just got off to one of those starts. “Everything I did was not quite right, and this place will take it to you when it’s going that way. “So really just a turnaround of some really small things, and yeah very grateful to have done that and be sitting here today.
