UFC 327 results: Kevin Holland edges out Randy Brown in fun brawl
UFC 327 has an early candidate for Fight of the Night.
MIAMI – Kevin Holland was critical of his UFC 327 performance in the immediate aftermath, but the fans at Kaseya Center on Saturday may not have been on the same page given their thunderous applause. In the second-to-last UFC 327 prelim, Holland (29-15 MMA, 16-12 UFC) defeated Randy Brown (29-8 MMA, 14-8 UFC)) by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). The fight had the arena buzzing, particularly in the first and second rounds which broke into an all-out brawl.
Heavy leg kicks were traded by both men, who remained light on their feet. It wasn't always pretty. Sometimes massive strikes resulted in off-balance stumbles.
Things got scrambly at times. But the chaotic back-and-forth nature of the bout perhaps even exceeded the expectations held by those enthused by the bout. Holland nearly submitted Brown in Round 2 in an intense grappling sequence.
But Brown remained patient and eventually wiggled his legs away from Holland, who had trapped them with his own during an anaconda choke attempt. The third round was a bit slower, as both men were visibly tired. Much of the round was against the fence with Brown in control, but it wasn't enough for him to persuade the judges.
