Brownsburg quarterback Oscar Frye commits to FCS national runner-up
Brownsburg quarterback Oscar Frye committed to Illinois State on Saturday. Frye helped Brownsburg to back-to-back 6A state championships.
One of the stateโs top quarterbacks made his college commitment on Saturday. Brownsburg junior Oscar Frye, starting quarterback for the Class 6A two-time state champion Bulldogs, announced his commitment to Illinois State. โ100% COMMITTED to Illinois State,โ Frye wrote on his social media account.
โSo grateful to the @RedbirdFB staff for this opportunity. Blessed to have the support of my family, Brownsburg coaches & teammates. โ Frye received an offer from Illinois State five days ago.
He had previously been offered by Bowling Green, Kent State, Miami (Ohio) and Toledo. On Brownsburgโs 6A state championship team two years ago, Frye completed 65% of his passes for 2,445 yards and 23 touchdowns. Last season as a junior, he passed for 2,505 yards and 29 TDs for the 14-0 Bulldogs.
"I feel like there were three pretty big things that impacted my decision," Frye said. "Just growing up in the Midwest heartland, I wanted to play for a school that represented those values and that really made it feel like home. Secondarily, the coaches and I really hit it off right away with our personalities and how we process the game.
