Scheffler currently trails the leader, Rory McIlroy, by five shots. The 29-year-old’s hopes of catching McIlroy will be very much dependent on how the Northern Irishman finishes off his round on Saturday.
Scheffler has won The Masters twice before, and he may well have a chance to win his third green jacket on Sunday. The man from Dallas, Texas, was in imperious form on Saturday at Augusta National , making one eagle, five birdies and 12 pars. However, after firing a 65 and McIlroy treading water, a third green jacket will definitely still be in Scheffler’s sights heading into Sunday. Scottie Scheffler says if he believes he can still win The Masters Rory McIlroy will probably have to come back to Scheffler slightly, if the world number one is to have a chance of winning at Augusta National on Sunday. However, his round of seven-under-par has at least given him a chance.
Scheffler responded when asked if he now feels like he can win the tournament after fixing up his swing on Saturday. “ I mean, I didn’t fix anything, “ Scheffler said. “ I felt like yesterday I played a lot better than my score, and then today, you know, early in the round, I felt like I got a lot out of it, and then on the back 9, I did a lot of really good things, and I didn’t really feel like I got the reward for it.
