The rich get richer as Satou Sabally leaves Phoenix for New York Liberty

Satou Sabally is headed to her third WNBA team in as many seasons. After helping the Mercury reach the 2025 WNBA Finals in her first and only season in Phoenix, the versatile 6-foot-4 forward known as "The Unicorn" signed with the New York Liberty, ESPN re p orted . She will be reunited with Oregon teammate Sabrina Ionescu.

The two helped lead the Ducks to a Final Four in 2019. Sabally joined the Mercury in February 2025 in a four-team trade between Phoenix, the Dallas Wings, Connecticut Sun and Indiana Fever, forming a Big 3 with Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Copper. Sabally averaged 16.

3 points and 5. 9 rebounds per game in 39 games for Phoenix, while shooting 40. 4% shooting from the field.

She was named an All-Star for the second time in her career. She upped her game during the Mercury's run to the WNBA Finals, averaging 19 points and seven rebounds in the playoffs. Sabally's season was cut short after suffering a concussion in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals .
