Devils take narrow lead over Blaze in play-offs

Cardiff Devils edged ahead in their Elite League Play-offs quarter-final against Coventry Blaze after winning Saturday's first leg 2-1 at the Skydome Arena. Blaze struck first when Jere Vertanen teed up Grayson Constable to put the home side's noses in front in the first period. Devils levelled early in the second when Kristoff Kontos and Cole Sanford combined for Evan Mosey to find the net, before Kontos went from provider to scorer to give the visitors a lead they held onto in a scoreless third period.

The tie now moves to the Vindico Arena in the Welsh capital for Sunday's second leg (17:00 BST). The play-off semi-finals, final and third-fourth play-off all take place in Nottingham on the weekend of 18-19 April.
