Ross rates and slates the Royals after a naff display in Yorkshire.

Joel Pereira: 7 Caught in a communication mixup with O’Connor at the back that had Pereira scrambling back into his net with Doncaster in the box. Opened the second half with a pretty good low save on the rugged terrain of the Eco-Power stadium, but spilled the rebound and needed the linesman’s whistle and Dez Williams to stop it. Kept Reading in it late on with two fantastic saves.

Somehow came out on top in a bizarre two-on-one situation when Reading misfired on a late corner routine – Pereira got out fast and made himself wide, diving down low to stop the close range shot. Repeated the trick a few minutes later as Reading lost defensive composure late on – kicking out a clear shot on net with his feet. Ryan Nyambe: 4 More reserved on the field than he has been in recent weeks, playing a more traditional right-back role.

Stepped up behind Kyerewaa well to deliver a searching cross shortly before half-time. Had a torrid start to the second half, conceding far too much ground in his box to the winger without making a challenge multiple times. The goal eventually came from his side, with Nyambe getting caught under a long ball forward and allowing the winger to flash the ball across the face of the goal.

Paudie O’Connor: 5 Shunted a lot of long balls forward but often when rushed and struggled to connect. Caught in a mixup with Pereira just before the half, mistakenly thinking Pereira would claim the ball, and then miscontrolling it with the back of his neck. Met an attacking set piece towards the back post in the second half, heading it back across the net well – but arguably he should have gone for goal.
