However, the world number eight has an excuse for his struggles after the latest report about his preparation.

The Scotsman newspaper reported that MacIntyre suffered a neck injury in the gym before The Masters started on Thursday. The two-time PGA Tour winner was apparently “close to pulling out” of the tournament, as he could not perform at his best. MacIntyre played despite his neck issue, but unfortunately, he was not rewarded for his determination.
MacIntyre (+7) missed the cut by three strokes and received criticism for his behaviour on day one at Augusta. He flipped his middle finger to the cameras after hitting his ball into the water with his approach shot on the 15th hole. MacIntyre now has several days to recover both mentally and physically before he tees up at Harbour Town for the RBC Heritage next week.
