Chicago is once again attempting to be competitive rather than start a rebuild after parting ways with Angel Reese in a recent trade . Diggins is heading into her 12th WNBA season and will turn 36 in August, but she was an All-Star last season, helping lead the Seattle Storm to a near-upset of eventual champion Las Vegas Aces in the first round of the playoffs. She likely will be the best point guard to change teams during free agency, giving the Sky a veteran presence to run their team, as they hoped for Courtney Vandersloot last season.

Diggins is a versatile threat on offense. She was one of two players who appeared in at least 20 games in 2025 to average at least 15 points and six assists, along with Alyssa Thomas. Diggins will join fellow free-agent acquisition Azurá Stevens on Chicago’s new-look roster.
