The Arizona Diamondbacks and Corbin Burnes haven't gotten off to an ideal start to their time together, and there's still a lot of contract to go.
It's a little complicated, though, because Burnes' current deal also has a built-in opt-out, if he wants to take it. MLB Trade Rumors' Darragh McDonald broke it down in a new article, and he explains that after this season, Burnes can opt-out of a contract that would have four years and $140 million remaining on it. Given that Burnes is out with injury right now as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, that's far from a certainty.

"For Burnes to make this a conversation, heโll probably need to come back and shove for at least a few weeks," McDonald writes. "One or two starts in September wonโt do it. Itโs also worth considering that Burnes seemingly turned down larger offers from other clubs because he and his family live in Scottsdale.
