The victory moved the Gulls one point behind second-placed Dorking Wanderers and four behind leaders Worthing with two regular season games to play. The Gulls need one more more win to mathematically guarantee a play-off place.
Dylan Morgan's fine run of form continued as he opened the scoring in the eighth minute - his fifth goal in his last four games - having hit the crossbar moments earlier Jordan Young ended an 11-game goal drought nine minutes later as he fired in his 16th of the season New signing Deon Moore scored twice in a five-minute spell soon after to leave the Gulls 4-0 up after 24 minutes. Jaiden Celestine-Charles got a consolation goal for the hosts nine minutes from full time before Reece Evans completed the rout with a stoppage time goal to make it 5-1. "We wanted to start quick," Torquay manager Jimmy Ball told BBC Radio Devon.
"Every team's got a game plan and the idea is if you score early that has to go out the window a little bit. "Then whilst they're trying to change or adjust things you go after them again, you don't let them off. "So I'm really pleased with that, the goals were great, pleased for Deon, pleased for Youngy, Dyl keeps scoring, which he's got to, so very happy.
