Cowboys safety Markquese Bell arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges in suburban Dallas

Bell was charged with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana.

Dallas Cowboys safety Markquese Bell was arrested on two drug charges Friday night, according to records from t he Collin County Sheriffโ€™s Office . Bell, 27, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. He was arrested in Prosper, Texas, a suburb located approximately 40 miles outside Dallas.

According to authorities, Bell was still in jail as of Saturday morning, the Dallas Morning News reports . Possession of a controlled substance carries a felony charge, while possession of marijuana is a misdemeanor. The Cowboys did not comment to multiple reporters regarding Bellโ€™s arrest.

The fourth-year safety would be in violation of the NFLโ€™s personal conduct policy Bell signed with Dallas as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M in 2022. Prior to last season, the Cowboys signed him to a three-year contract extension worth up to $12 million. He went on to appear in 17 games (starting three), tallying one interception and one forced fumble with three passes defended, 41 total tackles and one tackle for loss.
