Ducati and Marquez are currently trying to sort out the details of a new contract beyond this season. The seven-time premier class champion will be a free agent at the end of the year, but talks between both sides have hit a standstill, despite expectations that he would’ve already agreed a deal by now.

There were suggestions back in February that Marquez had already put pen to paper on a deal with Ducati through 2028. But it’s now believed he’s pushing for more flexibility, requesting a 1+1-year contract instead. Ducati has confirmed that they’re prepared to wait as long as it takes for Marquez to get ready.
