Pittsburgh signed college free agent defenseman Jake Livanavage to a two-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Friday. The deal begins immediately, and Livanavage will report to Pittsburgh. The 21-year-old defenseman was playing college hockey at North Dakota, and after his junior season, opted to turn pro and had multiple teams interested in him, but opted to sign with the Penguins.
Livanavage is known as an offensive blueliner with excellent vision who can be a puck-moving defenseman. At North Dakota this past season, Livanavage recorded five goals, 20 assists, 25 points, and was plus-15 in 39 regular-season games. He also served as an alternate captain for North Dakota.
Livanavage also represented the U. S. Collegiate Selects at the 2026 Spengler Cup, and he helped the team win the championship.
