Camden Johnson knocks in seven in Oklahoma win over Vanderbilt

Yahoo Sports

Camden Johnson hit two home runs and picked up seven RBIs in Oklahoma's win over Vanderbilt on Friday.

Friday's Game 2 between No. 16 Oklahoma and Vanderbilt could be termed "wild. " Runs were scored in only four innings, but the final result, a 13-11 Sooners win, belied the stop-start nature.

The win, too, provided OU with a chance to win its first Southeastern Conference series since the opener against Texas A&M back on March 15. Game 3 is set for Saturday at 1 p. m.

Deitan LaChance hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to break a 9-all tie and take final control. Trey Gambill had singled with one out to start things, followed by a Brendan Brock walk and a Camden Johnson single to load the bases. LaChance took the second pitch he saw from Nate Taylor down the right field line and over the fence to plate all four.

Vanderbilt pulled two runs back with a home run in the bottom of the sixth before Nick Wesloski retired the next three batters. Johnson was OU's biggest star, going 3 for 5 with two home runs himself, seven RBIs and three runs. Johnson's initial homer came in the first as he plated three of the Sooners' four runs in the top of the opener.
