Troy softball rallies past Plains
PLAINS — Hailey Dungan hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the seventh to give Troy a 14-13 victory over Plains Friday in high school softball. In a back-and-forth affair, Plains jumped out to an 8-1 lead after two innings thanks in part to back-to-back long balls from Bri Kulawinski and Taylor Saner. Troy answered with 11 runs over the next three innings, highlighted by a big fly from Ellah Wallace as the Trojans (5-1) took a 12-9 advantage.
Plains retook the lead in the sixth with a bases clearing double from Karissa French to put the Trotters up 13-12. Dungan restored Troy’s advantage as the Trojans held on in the bottom of the seventh. Bulawinski went the distance for Plains in the circle, allowing 10 hits and striking out six.
Claira Folkerts threw 5 2-3 innings for Troy, fanning seven and allowing six runs on seven hits.
