The Green Bay Packers added a pick in both the 2026 and 2027 drafts and freed up an opportunity to draft a wide receiver when the team agreed to trade veteran receiver Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday. Wicks, a 2023 fifth-round pick, was entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026 and sat no higher than fourth on the receiver depth chart. This was a mid-offseason opportunity to add much-needed draft capital by thinning an otherwise deep position.
And the Packers can now go into the draft with the freedom to take a receiver and reset the clock, adding a cheap, four-year rookie contract to the books while Wicks -- who was likely to depart next offseason -- gets a chance to contribute right away in Philadelphia.
