Penn State named a finalist for top-5 running back in nation

Yahoo Sports

The Penn State Nittany Lions were one of five schools listed as a finalist for David ‘Tre’ Segarra, one of the top running backs in the nation.

Some people consider Penn State a school that specializes in developing tight ends, while others, namely Abdul Carter, think of it as “ Edge U, ” a program that produces elite edge rushers. However, recent seasons suggest that the Nittany Lions ’ main area of expertise is the running back position. They have produced some of the most dominant running backs in recent NFL history with the likes of Kansas City Chiefs legend Larry Johnson and Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley.

While Penn State is getting ready to send Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton to the draft, they are looking for the heir to the throne. They have a viable candidate in four-star running back Quinton Martin Jr. , but they still have their eye on the future as well.

Tre Segarra is widely viewed as one of the best rushers in the nation and a top prospect in the Class of 2027. He gave a list of the five schools he is seriously considering committing to, and the Nittany Lions made the cut.
