Milwaukee Wave's back against the wall again in MASL playoffs after loss

The Wave offense provided too little too late in a loss to the Blast, so Milwaukee will have to win twice in one night again at the UWM Panther Arena.

After being forced to win twice in one night to advance in its first MASL playoff series, the Milwaukee Wave will have to do it again to get to the final. A low-energy, low-offense first three quarters cost the Wave in its opener against the Baltimore Blast as its rally fell short in a 7-5 loss April 10 at the UWM Panther Arena. โ€œWe definitely had a very slow start,โ€ said midfielder Alex Sanchez , who put the Wave on the board first midway through the first quarter, only to see the Blast score six consecutive goals.

โ€œI feel that we couldn't build out of the back. We had trouble with that. โ€œWe were close at the end.

Definitely had a couple good chances to tie up the game. But it just didn't happen. โ€ Oscar Flores scored twice for the Wave in three minutes straddling halftime, and Ian Bennett pulled the Wave within 6-5 midway through the fourth quarter.

Blast forward Juan Pereira ended Milwaukeeโ€™s hopes when he scored into an untended goal with 11 seconds left. The MASL playoff format features two-game series with a mini-game to follow in case of a tie. The Wave came back to win its quarterfinal series with the Empire Strykers that way and now will face the same situation against the Blast on April 13 at the Arena.
