'Let’s keep legacy growing': Rohit Sharma's message for Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians

Yahoo Sports

Rohit Sharma completed 15 years with the Mumbai Indians on Friday, marking a long association with the franchise that has included five IPL titles as captain. Rohit began his IPL career with Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010 before joining the Mumbai Indians in 2011. The move was backed by Sachin Tendulkar, who was leading the side at the time.

The franchise marked the occasion by presenting Rohit with a portrait, recognising his journey and contribution over the years. During his time with Mumbai Indians, Rohit has been part of multiple title wins and has led the side through different phases. Speaking after the presentation, the former MI captain thanked the team, support staff and everyone associated with the franchise, saying their collective effort shaped his journey and the team’s success.

"Thanks, Polly, Hardik, Surya, Mali, and also the rest of you all, thank you so much. It couldn't have been what it is for me without the effort of all you guys. This is a very, very special team.

Very, very special franchise. Very, very special people are involved in this team. Yes, we won five trophies, but obviously we all know that it is not possible without an effort of the entire team who is involved in making this franchise so, so special.

"I wouldn't have learned the art of being a leader if it was not for this franchisee. Obviously, there's a lot of people to thank for that.
