There has been a renewed interest in Joshua facing Deontay Wilder , following Wilder’s win in London last weekend over Derek Chisora , but Fury is advising Joshua and promoter Eddie Hearn to forget about that, and face him instead.
From Sky Sports : “Forget Wilder, the man’s a shell of himself, it’s sad to see. Let me get through (Makhmudov) and we’ll do the fight this year. I can’t say fairer than that.
Forget everybody else. ” Fury also said that both of them will have had “warm-ups,” with Joshua beating Jake Paul last December, and Fury — if he wins — with Makhmudov today: “I think we should get this fight on as soon as possible, in case something happens in between. So many times that fight was supposed to happen over the last 10 years.
[They thought] ‘we’ll just have one more fight in between, we’ll just have another one…’ Something goes wrong or injured or whatever. … Let’s do it. Let’s dance.
