Roupp, Giants Hold Off Orioles
San Francisco Giants starter Landen Roupp worked six innings as Giants' offense came alive against Baltimore Orioles.
The San Francisco Giants used a nice mixture of timely hitting and a stellar outing from starting pitcher Landen Roupp as the Giants defeated the Baltimore Orioles 6-3 on Friday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Roupp worked six innings, giving up five hits and just one run (earned). Roupp walked two and struck out four, raising his record to 2-1 this season.
Roupp now has an ERA of 3. 24 on the season. Orioles starter Shane Baz took the loss.
Baz worked five innings, allowing nine hits and three runs (all earned). Baz walked two and struck out four, but the Giants' offense struck him hard. In the top of the third inning, Willy Adames hit his second home run this season, a solo shot that put the Giants up 1-0 at that point.
Then, in the top of the fourth, Heliot Ramos' RBI single scored Casey Schmitt for a 2-0 Giants lead. Adames followed with his eighth double this season, knocking in Ramos and giving San Francisco a 3-0 edge. The Orioles scored in the bottom of the fourth on Leody Taveras' RBI double.
