SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) — The Angelo State University baseball team scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and held off West Texas A&M 5-3 in the opener of a four-game series Friday night at Foster Field. The contest was knotted at 3-3 after three innings, before Christian Garnette’s sacrifice fly and Blake Wilhoite’s RBI single in the fourth. ASU improved to 26-13 in the Lone Star Conference.

West Texas dropped to 23-16. Austin Beck drove in two runs for the Rams. Reliever Garrett Villa earned the win, after giving up just one hit and no earned runs in 1.

2 innings. Garrett Baumann worked the final five innings to record his first save of the season. The series will resume with a doubleheader at 1 p.
