Minnesota Twins Get Disappointing Royce Lewis News After Blue Jays Game

Yahoo Sports

The Minnesota Twins got an unfortunate update on infielder Royce Lewis.

The Minnesota Twins were hoping their recent momentum would carry into Friday’s matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays, but the night ended with far more concern than optimism. After dropping the series opener, the Twins learned they would be without one of their most important players for the foreseeable future. Royce Lewis, who has battled injuries throughout his career, is once again headed to the injured list.

The update came shortly after the loss. “Tough loss for the Twins followed by tough news. Royce Lewis is headed to the IL with a left knee sprain.

So is Cody Laweryson with a right forearm strain,” reported Twins sideline reporter Audra Martin. The news is especially disappointing because this has been Lewis entire challenge since being drafted. His injury occurred during Thursday’s game against the Detroit Tigers after an uncomfortable swing, and when he was not in Friday’s lineup against Toronto, concern immediately grew.

Now that concern has become reality. Tough loss for the Twins followed by tough news. Royce Lewis is headed to the IL with a left knee sprain.
