After being indicted on four charges, Alabama basketball guard Aden Holloway is fast-tracking his court case. On Friday, April 10, Holloway received a new hearing date in the Tuscaloosa Circuit Court after his indictment on two felonies − first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp − and two misdemeanors − illegal possession of a prescription drug and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. Holloway was set to appear for his arraignment on Tuesday, June 16, but will waive it, according to a statement by his attorney, Jason Neff, to Nick Kelly of Al.

By waiving the arraignment, Holloway is opting to not have the hearing in person and has acknowledged that he understands his charges and rights. The decision to skip the arraignment allows for the case to move forward to the next phase and avoid dates that could be deemed unnecessary. Neff indicated he will file a formal plea of not guilty on Holloway's behalf.
